Raccoons

Family: Procyonidae

Description

Raccoons are omnivores, meaning that they eat all kinds of animals and plants. Ornamental ponds attract them to catch fish, frogs, or other aquatic animals.

Damage

They damage plants while searching for food. In the garden, they always forage before the crops are ready to be picked. They damage the lawns by digging the ground for earthworms and grubs. Also, they get into the trash can and raid garbage. They can be destructive to farms, where they feed heavily on crops and sometimes kill poultry by raiding.
